Checking AI answers for mistakes and bias

A quick routine for catching made up facts and lopsided answers before they reach anyone else.

  1. Check anything you would be embarrassed to get wrong

Names, dates, numbers, quotes and legal or medical points. Look them up in a source you already trust.

  2. Ask where it came from

Ask the tool for its sources, then open them. If it cannot point to one, or the link does not say what it claimed, treat the point as unproven.

  3. Look for who is missing

Notice whose view is centred and who is left out. Ask it to rewrite from another point of view, or for examples from different places and people.

  4. Watch the defaults

If every doctor in its story is a man and every nurse a woman, say so and ask again. Bias often hides in the examples, not the main point.
