What an AI model is, and what it is not
A plain picture of what is going on when you type to an AI, so you know when to trust it and when to check.
It predicts, it does not know
A language model has learned patterns from a huge amount of text. When you ask it something, it writes the most likely next words. That is why it sounds sure of itself even when it is wrong.
It is good at shape, not truth
It is great at drafting, rewording, summarising and brainstorming. It is weaker at exact facts, fresh news and sums, unless it is connected to a search or a calculator.
It has no memory of you unless you give it one
Most tools forget your chat when you close it. Anything it seems to know about you came from what you typed or what you allowed it to save.
You are the editor
Treat every answer as a first draft from a quick, eager helper. You decide what is kept, what is checked and what is sent.
